Remote Coaching
Sometimes youth can struggle with integrating remote coaching into their lives. Without a brick and mortar space, it can be challenging to control the environment and to carve out private, distraction-free time at home. The following are a few of tips and tools for supporting youth during remote coaching.
Tips for Effective Remote Coaching
The baseline for successful coaching is that youth have a stable internet or phone connection, a charged device, and a comfy, private place to do their sessions from. This space can be a bedroom, a blanket in the yard, a nook, a fort or special place. What is important is that your youth feels comfy, that they can speak freely without interruption, and that they have access to a reliable internet or phone connection.
During a session your youth may be engaging with emotional material and navigating big responses. Effective coaching is only possible when youth feel safe, and private enough, to do so.
PS. Having a near by water-bottle or cozy cup of tea is also always a good idea.
